Editorial standards
These standards describe how NewLeaf News approaches verification, independence, transparency, and accountability in published work.
Accuracy first
We aim to publish reporting that is fair, precise, and clear about what is known, what is still developing, and where information comes from.
- We prioritize primary documents, direct statements, and source material over summaries of summaries.
- When facts are still emerging, we say so plainly instead of overstating certainty.
- If a significant fact changes after publication, we update the article and note the change for readers.
Transparent sourcing
Readers should be able to tell why we are making a claim, what reporting or documentation supports it, and where a conclusion is still provisional rather than settled.
- We distinguish between sourced reporting, analysis, and opinionated context.
- When source lists are available for an article, we publish them alongside the story.
- We identify interviews, public filings, regulatory releases, and other material records whenever possible.
- If a source base is incomplete or still developing, we would rather say that directly than present weakly supported certainty.
Independent review
Editorial judgment belongs to the newsroom, not sponsors, advertisers, issuers, political operators, or outside stakeholders who may benefit from a particular framing.
- Commercial relationships do not determine coverage decisions or framing.
- If a relevant relationship exists, we disclose it to readers.
- We separate editorial reporting from promotional or sponsored content.
- We do not offer favorable coverage in exchange for access, payment, or ongoing business relationships.
